Scheduling multi step jobs

I will see if i can explain this neatly...we shall see.

So i have a few things for the scheduling.

I run a lawn care buisness that focuses on mowing and treatments. in the winter we do holiday lighting displays. And to clarify what im asking for is coming from using other CRMs. (pretty much every post is due to working with another CRM and either the feature is there or it works better...to me...UI)

for the mowing recurring work. It is weekly. We have a start date. Please add an end date. For me it would be great if it was a seasonal window. Ex: start date march 15th end date Oct 15. For me it would be really great if i could add two windows of time as we go down to bi weekly for the rest of the year until grass stops growing but i can make that work but i can make that work for the moment....i think without spending hours just adding more visits. which is probably what it is going to be. But im asking for the end date because i know when it needs to end. but the continue for x number of weeks months or whatever. now im making a bunch of extra clicks for the weeks to make it end on the proper date. The best implementation is a window of work group. where i already have it set up as a march 15th to oct 15th. when creating the job just click the group. you can still add the days of the week and all that. but it makes it simple. and easier to get the right window.

for my treatments they are multi step jobs. again i know when they need to done. some steps are every 4-6 weeks, some steps are closer some steps are further apart so a standard every 6 weeks just doesn't work. so now im creating a bunch of extra steps. Again past CRM, allowed a multi step job. That does that.
-how many steps to your project
- what is involved in ea step
-when does ea step need to be completed
-how much to bill out for ea step
yes the steps are technically visits, but the days of completion are not always clean and when knowing that upfront its a lot easier to set it at the beginning and then drag around because it fell through for whatever reason than add them every 6 and for every single job like that moving the visits around.

Holiday lights
so i get 50% deposit to get on schedule. the rest of the payment is made upon install. Then i come back and take down in jan. But i don't get paid for that visit. as of now the scheduling is a little frustrating. i drop them on the schedule and create the job. i would again like to create another job for the take down of that proprerty but there is nothing to bill. how to do this simply. because as of now creating 2 jobs from the same quote is a pain. Maybe just create another job with a line item of 0. but again a multi step job would be nice. and again, that take down is in January. if i install in nov the time window is different than the last min dec job.

i understand this is probably a me problem, and no one else really cares, but man those features were great.

I believe an other of the features you are requesting can be utilized via "Recurring" jobs. Check that out and circle back with any questions!

It is a bit cumbersome and could definitely be easier but as a workaround, we also use the reocurring job feature mentioned by Ryan here.

You can then manually remove the line items from the second visit if not invoicing. Or, alternatively, create the job without them and then add the line items to the first visit.

Not really. Recurring is set. But as example: (and I say this as I had a zoom call with someone today to try and address this. It’s still a lot of extra steps and screens)

but example. I have a 5 step lawn treatment plan. I am going to be out march 15. Then 4 weeks later for the 2nd round of pre emergent. The. It’s going to be closer to 6 weeks for the next treatment. Then due to temps we are going to skip the next 2 months. Then be out for the 4th treatment and finally 4-6 weeks for the 5th. It isn’t an every week.

for my Christmas lights if you set up a revurring  job, so they are scheduled for take down, they would get billed 2x for it if you don’t pay attention. Instead we are creating the job then we have to schedule a task. And yes that works. But extra screens and extra steps.

For everyone that will be at equip. I will share this. It’s on one screen. You scheduled ea step of the job and ea step can have its own part of the invoice. Now my treatments may be equal but the Christmas lights. Are not.
