Posting general photos in Facebook groups stops working fast because those groups get flooded with spam and people scrolling aren't usually ready to buy at that exact moment. To get actual jobs booked, you have to change how you use social media and get listed where people are actively searching for a detailer.
Here is what works in the field:
Change your Facebook group strategy. Instead of dropping pictures of a clean boat or car, post short video clips showing the actual problem being fixed. Show a chalky, sun-faded gel coat getting buffed back to a shine, or salt water spots coming off glass. Address the specific headaches local owners deal with, like Florida sun oxidation and salt air damage. When you show the process of fixing a specific problem, people actually pay attention instead of scrolling past.
Get your Google Business Profile set up and updated. When someone decides today that they need their boat or car detailed, they go to Google and search for local detailers. Make sure your service area is correct, upload fresh pictures of your work every week, and ask every satisfied customer to leave you a review on Google right when you finish the job.
Build real relationships at local marinas and boat yards. Go talk to dockmasters and yard managers in person. Shake hands, leave a stack of cards, and offer them a small referral fee or a discount on their own boat for sending clients your way. A recommendation from a dockmaster carries way more weight than any online ad.
Set up recurring maintenance plans. After you do a full detail or paint correction, pitch the customer on a bi-weekly or monthly wash program to keep the salt and sun off their vehicle or boat. Having repeat clients on a schedule stabilizes your cash flow so you aren't constantly fighting for new leads every single week.
