I think the best customers have actually come from a thorough vetting process. We won't go out to their property till we've had a phone call and established some sort of budget. I've gotten some of my best customers from all of those thing you listed. Honestly, thumbtack can feel like a money pit but it always ends up in the positive (big picture). I don't keep a good handle on metrics yet, but I'd honestly say Thumbtack is the best. haha referrals can be hit and miss just like anything else. I'd tell you one of the worst - from any social circles you have. It sucks giving someone at church a bid that's way higher than they were thinking and them seeing you every day.
