The internal acknowledgment mentioned above is a useful step. I’d also separate “someone saw the missed call” from “the customer actually received a response.”
A simple follow-up queue can track four things: who owns the callback, when it is due, whether the customer was reached, and the next agreed action. If the first person can’t respond, the request needs a named backup rather than another notification to everyone.
For after-hours calls, I’d also distinguish a booking request from a confirmed appointment. Whatever answers the phone should only promise availability the business can honor.
