Two Way Text Messaging

Hello community!

We are thinking of upgrading and the main reason is to utilize two way texting. How many of you use it and how do you use it to maximize its usage? Also, would you go back and not have it if you could choose? Or is it just that incredible?

Thanks for the feedback!

I wouldn’t even dream of going back. Once you start using two-way texting in Jobber, trying to manage a schedule with phone calls and emails feels like going back to dial-up.

To be honest, we don't even use features like job driver routing or assigned driver notifications, and it's still an absolute game-changer. Even if you're running lean and taking care of everything yourself, the convenience factor alone makes it worth every penny.

How We Get the Most Out of It

    • Instant Photo Quotes: Having clients text a quick picture of the property before heading out saves so many unnecessary trip charges and wasted windshield time. You can quote faster and keep the day moving.
    • Faster Payments: Texting invoice links straight to their phone gets you paid way faster than email. Most clients pay right off their phone within minutes of finishing up the job.
    • "On My Way" Texts: Sending a quick heads-up text before pulling up keeps customers happy, gives them time to put dogs away, and slashes no-shows to basically zero—all without having to stop and make a full phone call.
    • Keeping Track: Having the whole text conversation saved directly on the client's job file in Jobber is huge. No more scrolling through a personal cell phone to figure out what was agreed on three weeks ago.

The only catch with two-way texting is that people treat text like real-time chat. Definitely set up after-hours auto-responses in Jobber so clients know you’re off the clock and aren't waiting on a reply at 9 PM.

Even without touching half the driver or dispatch tools, it cuts out a massive amount of admin headache, speeds up cash flow, and customers genuinely love it. 100% worth the upgrade!

Something else that Travis reminded me of is that the AI receptionist will start responding to the text messages and I've seen it give some really good responses and then when you have a minute you can jump back in on the covo.

I'm also going to get my admin to start texting invoices to clients as well, great tip. I do that with estimates so why not invoices.

    Love it, no brainer!

To me, the plus plan is just unbelievable right now. Some of the new features that they've brought out are extremely powerful. I'm seeing a lot of people ask me about jumping on the plus plan lately.

Also, typically my advice is: don't cheap out on the one thing that is running your entire business and that helps you communicate with your clients

So if I have an office with the office number on our shirts and business cards, will they still call that number?

Great question, if you give out your Jobber # that should come through. We do not tho.

It does come through, they just come up as "Unknown" on the Jobber Two Way Texting until you create a Client profile for them

Two way texting was worth the price of admission to us the moment we were able to send out Jobber quotes via text and not have that quote come from a pool of numbers and a prospect can follow up with us directly instead of trying to find the office number to call/text. There can be some more improvements on how Two Way texting is managed on the Jobber mobile app but my Team loves it.

We’ve had two-way texting for as long as I can remember, and at this point I honestly couldn’t imagine running our business without it.

We use it for pretty much EVERYTHING (appointment reminders, “we’re on our way” messages, schedule changes, answering client questions, following up on estimates, letting someone know we’re running behind, etc.)

We actually don’t even have texting enabled on our regular business phone number. If a client wants to text us, it happens through Jobber.

One of the biggest benefits for me is that the communication stays connected to the client instead of being scattered between my phone, an employee’s phone, Facebook messages, and who knows where else. As we grew, I realized how important that was. I don’t want important client conversations living on someone’s personal phone where the rest of us can’t see what was said.

And clients LOVE texting. A lot of people would much rather send a quick text than call a cleaning company during their workday.

We’ve also gotten into the habit of using templates for the messages we send over and over, so we’re not constantly typing the same thing. It makes communication much faster while still letting us personalize it when needed.

Would I go back to not having it? Absolutely not. 😂 It’s one of those features you probably don’t realize how much you’ll use until it becomes part of your everyday workflow.

My only wish is that we could send an announcement to everyone collectively- that isn’t a feature yet, but Jobber continues to improve!

My biggest advice if you upgrade for it: don’t just use it occasionally. Build it into your actual processes. That’s when it becomes really valuable.
