How to disconnect financials from texting

I have found an issue that I think would be very easy for Jobber to fix, but is currently super annoying in my business.  I want my team members (technicians) to have the ability to text our customers while in the field.  However, in order for them to have access to that feature, I have to also give them permission to see the financial details of each quote/job/line item etc.  If I shut off their access to see the financial details, then they also automatically have their texting access taken away as well.  I see no reason why those features need to be tied together.  How can I send this request up the chain with Jobber ASAP to see this change made?

100% in agreement! We started using Jobber because of the texting feature. Once we discovered, after the fact, that field tech's could see the numbers they started to complain about how much they were getting paid when they saw how much we charged for each job. I shared my views with our on boarding person. To fix this we zeroed out the cost of jobs, and turned off the ability of the tech to search/view invoices, quotes and requests from the app. The problem now is that some reporting is misleading because the jobs have $0 value. So there is a way around it at a cost of reporting on each jobs value.
Not sure if this helps, but it really does need to be addressed.

    Hi dakotasmalljobs and DavidM

Thanks so much for sharing this feedback! We completely understand how frustrating it can be to have texting permissions tied to financial visibility, especially when you want your field team to communicate with customers without seeing job pricing or margins.

I’ve shared your feedback with our development team so they can consider separating these permissions in future updates. We really appreciate you taking the time to explain how this affects your team and operations—it helps us better understand how we can make Jobber work more effectively for your business.

  • They can send an on my way text from the field but the actual two way texting shows all text communications between your business and the customer. This includes access to quotes and invoices as well as client hub.  Most texts you send through Jobber sends the link with it.

I believe the reason for allowing your staff to see these items in Jobber as a default setting is to make you aware of the fact that they will have access to this type of information if they have access to the two way texting. I don't think it is a simple fix without impacting the customers experience or the functionality of the feature.

  • Although annoying, I dont see this getting changed on the Jobber end.  As it was mentioned above, the field tech can still send an "on the way" text message without the adjusted permissions I believe.  Anything other than the "on the way" message may just need to be sent as a regular text message outside of Jobber.  In some cases, it may be better to just call the customer and verbally discuss the topic.  As you know, the verbal phone call can be dialed out right from the Jobber app.
