  • This takes a lot of work.  There are a lot of pillars to this and for us is supporting them and supporting their dreams.  If they want to buy a house how can we get them there? If they want to to take a vacation, how do we make it happen? The book Dream Manager is great to help with this question.  And sometimes we fail.  I like to say that is is like anything we can not be liked by everyone.

  • Personal interest is the key! That means you really have to make the time to be familiar with your employee. Then you will be able to cater the best work experience and environment for them. I find that if an employee feels like they matter, they are more likely to act as part of the team. It made me happy that my last hire even found proud to add our company profile in his bio on social media. He feels we are in this together!

Many people will take a happy workplace over a slight bump in pay somewhere else.

Thank you for the feedback. I think this is mostly true but I also think we should try to be competitive in pay. I personally believe we lack genuine care if we offer employees bottom of the market pay but enrich ourselves. For example: if you drive a $100K truck and pay your employee terrible pay that isn't a good look. I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

I agree with this. But it can also backfire. We have three employees now, way over paid, don't want to work etc. Its a very fine balance. I am going to look into training classes on how to get our employees motivated and care more. I know there are ways. If you think of any, or have some already, please shoot me some ideas.

        Thanks!
