Really relevant thread for us. We're a newer landscaping and hardscaping company in Austin, TX and actively building out our sub network right now, specifically for hardscape work. We've landed on the sub model for now because of the flexibility and the specialty skill set that hardscaping requires. But the pain points in this thread are exactly what we're trying to get ahead of. Our approach so far has been to walk every job before, during, and after, and we don't release final payment until we've walked it with the client and they sign off. Curious what others here are doing to vet subs upfront -- background checks, trial jobs, references from other GCs? Always looking to tighten that process.
