I think it matters, but not in the “become a content creator” way. For contracting, social media works best as proof.
At least that's when I see it work for all my customers in the same field.
People want to see that you can actually do the work, especially if you already feel like you have to prove yourself before people take you seriously.
I would not pay someone to follow you around yet. Start simple. Record short clips of:
the problem before you touch it
what you noticed
one part of the process
the finished result
one thing the customer should know
