For keeping track of service contracts we use the calendar event feature, we simply enter customer information, unit type, size, etc. in the header then enter date and frequency. We do not have contracts per se, we send reminders. We have found that by sending reminders to the customer instead of getting them in a contract works better for us. Some customers pass on, some move, etc. They also feel better paying for a service that's completed better than locking them into a contract. (that's just what seems to worki better for us). Calendar event allows you to create it weekly, monthly, yearly or custom.
We also use the tag feature to keep track of what brand of generator and size the customer has. We can then see the totals for each brand and size we service.
Installs that require multiple visits of completion such as generator installs are just scheduled normally and completed and rescheduled as each task is completed. We have a large enough account that we have entered different tasks like you enter an employee. Such as Plumer (for gas line tasks), IHC (for in home consultations, sales), etc... this allows us to assign a different color for each employee, task, that is easily recognizable on the calendar and allows to quickly see what phase of the job its in. If you have an account large enough you could create and employee/task for sales, permits, concrete, electrical, gas, inspections, whatever. and then just hit complete, reschedule the next task and so on till final completion. I hope that's not to confusing.
