How do you stay motivated as an entrepreneur when facing constant rejection?

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out to my fellow entrepreneurs.

I am a serial entrepreneur with multiple businesses, but I have a strong passion for serving in real estate and traditional home-related services. People often contact me for down payment assistance, closing cost help, home improvements, foreclosure prevention, rental assistance, debt relief, or support for first-time homebuyers. I connect people with the resources they need to maintain and sustain homeownership, promote housing stability, and ensure safe housing.

Recently, I decided to form a nonprofit with my amazing team because I’ve mostly been referring people to resources, but I want to become a direct resource myself.

If you’re a new entrepreneur or a seasoned one like me, you know that starting or working on something often involves a lot of rejection.

Today, I’m just reaching out to see how everyone stays motivated. My motivation has always been my community and service.

I want to hear from my fellow entrepreneurs: how do you stay motivated? I’d love to hear different perspectives in the comments.

  • For me, it starts with remembering my why, my purpose and the impact my services have on others.

I also stay motivated through prayer and faith. Rejection is never easy, but I've learned to look for the lesson in every "no" so I can improve, pivot, or approach things differently next time.

One mindset shift that has helped me tremendously is remembering that sometimes rejection is protection. Not every opportunity is meant for us, and sometimes a closed door is redirecting us toward a better one.

I also lean on affirmations and the stories of successful entrepreneurs who faced countless rejections before receiving the one "yes" that changed everything. Sometimes all it takes is one person, one client, one opportunity, or one supporter who believes in your vision.

Keep serving your community, the passion behind your mission really shines through your post.

Thank you so much, Monrovia! Your message truly resonates with my soul. I needed to hear this, beyond just the business aspect. Remembering who my Lord is through everything and trusting Him will align everything, every person, and every opportunity, according to His will. Thank you! I pray that God blesses you, your family, and your business abundantly.

Hi Powerhouse, nice to meet you!

I'm new to the Jobber community, but I've been using Jobber to help run my small business, RNM HEAT. I repair propane patio heaters, fire pits, fireplaces, and BBQ grills, as well as provide BBQ deep cleaning services. Like many entrepreneurs, I've faced my share of rejection, from customer leads that didn't work out to credit applications and SBA loans that were denied. It can be discouraging at times, but what keeps me going is my faith in Jesus Christ. I believe every closed door isn't the end of the story, and that God can open the right door at the right time. My family is also a huge source of motivation. Their support, encouragement, and belief in me help keep me moving forward, especially during the difficult seasons. I also genuinely enjoy serving others. Helping customers restore, repair, and enjoy their outdoor spaces is something I love doing and it reminds me why I started. I work a full-time job while growing my business, so it isn't always easy, but faith, family, persistence, and a desire to help people keep me motivated every day.

Wishing you and your team success with your nonprofit. Serving your community in that way is truly inspiring.
