So we do kind of have this dual role in our company. I do sales and I have an estimator. Now sometimes I do both. But it sure is nice for me to be out there shaking hands and then just hand off the info sometimes and see that estimate get banged out and not cost me anytime.
So I think they can 100% be seperated.
I don't like that your ops manager gave up. Sounds like he's not the right person for that job.
For the ops manager he should just be knowing what margin the job was estimated at and then bonused on that somehow. If you quoted it at 40% maybe anything over 40% you split or whatever.
