How important is social media for growing your business?

Im a one woman show. I hire day laborers but majority of the time I work alone. I’m a female contractor in the cowboy capital of Texas. The struggle is real yall.  I feel like I’m constantly having to prove myself. Nobody takes me seriously until I start doing the work.  Would it be wise to do videos and how much would this help me in establishing my skills and help grow business? I’m busy and I just don’t want to waste time on this if it’s not going to help. What do yall think?  And what kind of videos should I do? I do a variety of work. Do I pay someone to follow me around? If you’re doing this please give me some tips and lmk how much it helped you. Thanks

  • Video is your automated vetting system. It proves your capability before skeptical clients even call you.

How: Stick your phone on a $20 magnetic mount, hit record, and just do your job. No editing needed.

What: Shoot 10-second time-lapses of you doing heavy labor, or 30-second clips explaining how you are fixing a tough problem.

Where: Upload them to your Google Business Profile, drop them into local Facebook groups when people ask for recommendations, or text them to close hesitant prospects.

Don't overthink it. Hit record, work, and let your skills do the talking.

  • I think it matters, but not in the “become a content creator” way. For contracting, social media works best as proof.

At least that's when I see it work for all my customers in the same field.

People want to see that you can actually do the work, especially if you already feel like you have to prove yourself before people take you seriously.

I would not pay someone to follow you around yet. Start simple. Record short clips of:

the problem before you touch it

    what you noticed

    one part of the process

    the finished result

one thing the customer should know
