Good day,
From what you described, it’s not just a traffic issue—it’s likely a conversion and follow-up problem. A lot of HVAC businesses get leads from platforms like Yelp and Google but lose them due to slow response times or no structured follow-up.
As a digital marketer and CRM specialist, I help service businesses capture, track, and convert more of the leads they’re already getting—through automated follow-ups, better booking systems, and simple pipelines that turn inquiries into paying jobs.
If you’re open, I can share a quick breakdown of what might be leaking opportunities in your current setup.

I'm not really an expert BUT in my opinion you have to start with the free infastructure type things first, then work your way in to paid spaces. Is your GMB optimized (meaning do you have services, products, business hours extended, uploading geo tagged pictures etc). Then is your website SEO optimized (jobber just had a really good pod on this). After that, set up your tracking for google. They were basically talking about optimizing your AEO for AI search engines which is where the majority of people will be in 2-3 years.
Personally, I feel like networking would be your best bet for more solid leads. THere's so much competition in the HVAC space that would be your best bet to stand apart from the crowd. Also take an objective look at you branding and messaging.

Hey Hugehomepros,
Question, what does AEO mean? And also in what ways can one network more to gain customers?

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. It is a digital marketing strategy. It structures content so that AI tools can easily find, understand, trust, and cite a brand as a direct answer to user queries. AI tools include ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity, and voice assistants.
Networking for me is trying to pick events where my ideal client hangs out. We do residential cleaning and it is somewhat a luxury service, so I hang out where high level executvies are and women events.

We recently realized how much money we were leaving on the table using Google Local Service Ads- the inquiry is searching for a service and they tend to book with the first person who answers the phone. If we miss that initial call, 90% of the time it's lost.
We HAVE just hired someone who builds out automations for GLSA to ensure every warm lead is replied to within seconds. I will circle back to see if that changes our conversion rate from GLSA!

Thank you and please let me know how it turns out.
This yelp and Google Adds is good for only getting client lists and not much on closure assistance for requests.

I would love to know who you hired to implement that? It is a challenge we also have.

It's something simple but not something many realize. While you are using marketing apps like - Thumbtack, Yelp, Angi's List, Google etc. You are evaluating the performance of those apps and how many leads they are giving you. In the meantime, those companies are also evaluating your business. Meaning, if your response rate / profile / cost / reviews are not up to their standard, you will get much less leads, if any. Thumbtack is very profitable as all the others I mentioned. It's how you use them that makes all of a difference.
